Our Story
Second Presbyterian Preschool was established in 1972 as a ministry of Second Presbyterian Church. The preschool was incorporated separately in 1991. Over the years we have continued to grow and transform to meet the needs of the children at our school and our community. We are proud of the impact Second Presbyterian Preschool has had in the greater Little Rock area. Our mission at Second Presbyterian Preschool is to provide children and their families with a secure, enriching environment to foster individual development, self-esteem, and spiritual growth.
Enrichment Programs
All of our classrooms provide well-rounded curriculum from Infants to Pre-K. All classes benefit from our incredible Music Program. Toddler classes through Pre-K classes experience Chapel. Our two-year-old classrooms through four-year-old classrooms explore and showcase their creativity through our Art Class. In addition to Music and Art, our three-year-old and four-year-old classes attend Project Lead the Way (S.T.E.M.)
Welcome to our preschool music program! Our classes are designed to introduce children to the joy of music through fun and interactive activities. The curriculum is comprised of a mix of Kindermusik, Musik Garten, Kodaly's Methodologies, and Orff. By combining multiple curriculums, our teachers are able to give children a broad foundation for music. Our teachers believe that creating a nurturing and fun environment is paramount in creating a lifelong appreciation for music.
Our art program strives to create a fun environment where children can play and create. Our desire is for our students to grow in a variety of developmental skills through tearing, painting, scribbling, cutting, and creating using a variety of techniques and materials that strengthen their fine motor skills, showcase their self-expression, and build their self-esteem. Our art teachers enjoy guiding our students as they express their creativity through art.
Project Lead the Way is an innovative program that introduces children to the world of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The Preschool Curriculum is designed to help children develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and a love for learning. PLTW allows children to learn through hands-on activities and experimentation. With Project Lead the Way, children can explore the world around them and discover their own potential.
Chapel is a wonderful opportunity for young children to learn about Jesus in a safe and nurturing environment. Our program is designed to introduce children to the basic principles of Christianity through age-appropriate lessons, songs, and activities. We believe that by instilling these values at a young age, we can help children develop a strong foundation for a lifetime of spiritual growth and fulfillment.
